The Wethersfield Citizens Scholarship Foundation, now known as "Wethersfield Dollars for Scholars," was founded in 1974 by Dr. Philip Sehl and Mr. Felix Babel to provide one-time scholarships to graduating seniors who live in Wethersfield and plan to pursue any form of post-secondary education.  This nonprofit organization is managed by volunteers and funded entirely by donations from local residents and businesses. Scholarships are based primarily on financial need (using National Dollars for Scholars Guidelines), academic accomplishment, and community service, although some awards specify distinct selection criteria.  Over 95 percent of all available funds are distributed to students. Since its founding, Wethersfield Dollars for Scholars has awarded over $3,292,000 in scholarships to more than 3,833 students. During the 2019-2020 academic year, the Wethersfield Dollars for Scholars distributed $131,500 to 131 graduating seniors from Wethersfield.

We have very strict deadlines that must be adhered to --

Students MUST complete an online profile created from this website.

Upon completion of the student profile, students will be considered for national as well as local scholarships.

Dependent upon the resources available for distribution, Wethersfield Dollars for Scholars offers a limited number of competitive scholarships to those applicants who best meet the criteria of financial need, academic performance, school activities, community service, and other criteria specified by the donors.

There is no assurance that all students who complete the entire application process will receive a scholarship.
